It's often employed for cutting sutures and is also used in arteriotomies (incisions in arteries), parotid gland surgeries, mucosal incisions during septoplasty (nasal septum repair), cleft palate operations, ureterolithotomies (removal of stones from the ureter), and pyelolithotomies (kidney stone removal via renal pelvis incision).
