The Qlicksmart SnapIT offers a safer method for opening glass ampoules, significantly reducing the risk of sharps injuries. This user-friendly, reusable ampoule opener minimizes the high incidence of injuries associated with manual ampoule opening.

Handling ampoules poses a significant risk, with 26% of needlestick and sharps injuries resulting from ampoule handling or breakage. Developed by a registered nurse in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, this device addresses the widespread use of tamperproof glass ampoules in healthcare for pharmaceutical storage.

  • To use, simply insert the ampoule top into the SnapIT, ensuring the correct size is selected. Align any dot on the ampoule with the dot on the SnapIT, and snap it away from your body to open. The glass ampoule top can then be safely ejected into a sharps container.
  • The range includes both personal and trolley versions: Trolley Edition is designed for team use, featuring a flat side to prevent rolling on surfaces, ideal for hospital medication preparation areas. Pocket Edition is made of anodized aluminum for personal use, easily attached to a key ring, lanyard, or stored in a pocket.
