The SAM Splint 36" XL in Charcoal is the widest variant in the SAM Splint range, measuring 91.4cm x 14cm to provide broader coverage for large-limb immobilisation. The extra 3.2cm width over the standard 36" model delivers greater surface contact on thighs, upper arms and torso applications, improving stability when splinting larger patients or managing pelvic and rib injuries in the field.

NATO Stock Number (NSN): 6515-01-673-6307

Key Features

  • Extra-Wide 14cm Profile: Provides 30% more contact area than the standard 10.8cm width, offering enhanced support for large-limb and torso splinting
  • Mouldable Aluminium Core: Shape the splint to match any anatomical contour, then flatten and reshape it for a different injury or return it to its original form for storage
  • Reusable Construction: Clean and reshape the splint for repeated training or clinical use, reducing long-term consumable costs
  • Weatherproof and Radiolucent: Functions reliably in wet, cold or dusty environments and does not need to be removed for X-ray imaging
  • Trusted Worldwide: Adopted by the U.S. military, NASA and emergency services globally as a standard-issue immobilisation device

Applications

The XL width is favoured by HART teams, military field medics and mountain rescue units across the UK for managing large-patient trauma and improvised pelvic stabilisation. Also available in 4" Finger (9.5cm x 4.6cm), 9" Small (22.9cm x 10.8cm), 18" Medium (45.7cm x 10.8cm), 36" Large Rolled and 36" Large Flat configurations.
