The Chester Chest with Port Access Arm (Light Skin) has been an industry standard since 1986 for central line care training. This comprehensive vascular access simulator features a tunnelled central catheter, external jugular vein, subclavian catheter placement, and multiple IVAD configurations, providing healthcare professionals with realistic practice in central and peripheral line management across UK hospitals, oncology units, and nursing education programmes.

Key Features

  • Tunnelled Central Catheter: 9.6Fr catheter visible up to the clavicle with a discernible Dacron cuff on the right chest
  • External Jugular Vein: Slightly raised vein with an opening to attach a triple lumen catheter
  • Subclavian Catheter Placement: Upper chest opening for subclavian line insertion practice
  • Four IVAD Placements: Simulate "normal", "tipping", "wandering", and deeply placed port access in the left chest area
  • Blood Return Confirmation: Successful access is confirmed by simulated blood return, with fluid infusion and withdrawal from all lines
  • Port Access Arm: Dual 5Fr PICC exiting the basilic vein from the inner bicep, pre-positioned 20g IV catheter in the forearm, and a recessed area for optional peripheral IVAD placement

Applications

Essential for NHS vascular access training, oncology nursing competency assessments, and university healthcare programmes. This simulator supports teaching, skills assessment, fluid infusion, blood withdrawal, and dressing securement techniques for central access devices used in chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition, and long-term intravenous therapy across UK clinical settings.
