Vena Cava arranges licensed sharps bin collection for clinics and businesses across the UK. We supply the correct sharps bins, collect them on a schedule or when you call, and send your consignment notes so your records are inspection-ready. Ideal for low-volume sites: no long contract, and one-off collections are available.
The lid colour tells the carrier how your sharps must be treated. Using the wrong bin is one of the most common findings at inspection. Under the Department of Health guidance HTM 07-01:
Sharps contaminated with medicines that are not cytotoxic or cytostatic, such as vaccinations, most injections and dermal fillers. Sent for incineration.
Sharps with no medicinal contamination, such as needles used only for blood sampling or acupuncture. Can go to alternative treatment.
Sharps contaminated with cytotoxic or cytostatic medicines, including some hormonal drugs. Most carriers also treat botulinum toxin (Botox) as cytotoxic. High-temperature incineration only.
Not sure which applies? Tell us the procedures you carry out and we will confirm, or read our clinical waste colour code guide. You can also browse our sharps bins from 0.6 litre to large-volume containers.

We also arrange collection of infectious (orange), offensive (tiger), pharmaceutical and dental waste. See our full clinical waste collection service, including our founding customer offer for the first 10 practices: a free starter pack, a 12-month price lock and 10% off supplies.
It depends on your bin types, sizes, how many bins you fill and how often you need a collection. Low-volume sites usually pay per collection or a small monthly fee. Send us your details and we will reply with a clear written price.
