Blue Dot HF Antidote Gel (25g) is a calcium gluconate gel formulated for the immediate treatment of skin burns caused by hydrofluoric acid (HF) exposure. The gel works by reacting with hydrofluoric acid to form insoluble calcium fluoride, preventing the acid from depleting calcium in underlying bones and deep tissues. This is a critical first aid intervention that must be available wherever HF is stored, handled or used.

Key Features

  • Calcium Gluconate Active Ingredient: Reacts with hydrofluoric acid to form insoluble calcium fluoride, neutralising the acid and stopping further tissue penetration
  • Prevents Calcium Depletion: Protects bones and deep tissues from the systemic hypocalcaemia that HF exposure can cause, which if untreated can lead to cardiac arrest
  • Immediate First Aid Treatment: Research-backed protocol: rinse the affected skin with water for one minute, then massage the gel gently into the area until pain subsides
  • 25g Tube: Compact size suitable for spill kit integration, laboratory bench storage and COSHH cabinet placement
  • Easy Application: Gel consistency allows direct massage into the burn site for rapid absorption and pain relief
  • COSHH Compliance Essential: Required wherever hydrofluoric acid is listed in workplace COSHH assessments as a substance in use

Applications

Essential for laboratories, glass etching facilities, semiconductor manufacturing, petroleum refining, automotive workshops and any UK workplace where hydrofluoric acid is stored or handled. Must be readily accessible at the point of use as part of the COSHH risk assessment emergency procedure.
