Surgicel from Ethicon is a sterile, absorbable haemostatic fabric made from oxidised regenerated cellulose. When placed directly on a bleeding surface, it swells and forms a gelatinous mass that supports clot formation, then gradually absorbs into the body over 7 to 14 days. This 5 x 7.5cm size is designed for use in surgical procedures where conventional haemostasis methods such as ligation or cautery are impractical or insufficient. Supplied as a box of 12 individually wrapped sterile pieces. Store at controlled room temperature.

Applications
Surgicel is a standard haemostatic agent in NHS operating theatres, used across general surgery, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, gynaecology and ENT procedures. It is applied as an adjunct to surgical haemostasis wherever oozing or diffuse bleeding persists after conventional control methods, and is particularly valued in procedures involving highly vascular tissue or areas where suturing is difficult.
